Anterior dislocation of the radial head with fractures of the olecranon and radial neck in a young child: a Monteggia equivalent fracture-dislocation variant.
We present a case of a type I Monteggia equivalent lesion in a 7-year-old child consisting of anterior dislocation of the radial head, radial neck fracture, and a fracture of the olecranon without an associated fracture of the ulnar diaphysis or metaphysis. After a review of the literature, we report this fracture pattern as a rare type I Monteggia equivalent fracture-dislocation variant. This ...
متن کاملSimultaneous monteggia type I fracture equivalent with ipsilateral fracture of the distal radius and ulna in a child: a case report
INTRODUCTION Simultaneous Monteggia injuries of the elbow and ipsilateral distal radius and ulna fractures are very rare. CASE PRESENTATION A unique case of a type I Monteggia fracture equivalent with ipsilateral fracture of the distal radius and ulna (Salter-Harris type II) in a child is reported. We describe the management of this unique fracture and discuss the possible mechanism of injury...
متن کاملPersistent posterior interosseous nerve palsy associated with a chronic type I Monteggia fracture-dislocation in a child: a case report and review of the literature.
We present a rare case of persistent complete posterior interosseous nerve palsy associated with a chronic type I Monteggia elbow fracture-dislocation consisting of anterior dislocation of the radial head and malunion of the ulna in an 8-year-old child requiring surgical treatment. Posterior interosseous nerve neuropraxia following acute Monteggia injury patterns about the elbow has been descri...
متن کاملMonteggia Type IV Equivalent Injury
Equivalent lesions of Monteggia type IV injury have not appeared so far in the literature. Two Monteggia type IV equivalent lesions, which included a fracture of the radial head associated with midshaft fractures of the radius and ulna in a 3- and in a 12-year-old girl, are reported. The lesion presented in this report could be considered as a missing piece in the puzzle of Monteggia and equiva...
متن کاملMedian Nerve Palsy following Elastic Stable Intramedullary Nailing of a Monteggia Fracture: An Unusual Case and Review of the Literature
Monteggia fractures are rare in children, and subtle radial head dislocations, with minor plastic deformation of the ulna, may be missed in up to a third of cases. Complications of Monteggia fractures-dislocations include persistent radial head dislocation, forearm deformity, elbow stiffness, and nerve palsies at the time of presentation. An unusual case of median nerve palsy following elastic ...
